What’s Inside?

Fred Thompson, ground-breaking reports, news the mainstream media ignores, wit, humor, and YOU.

Enabling voices to be heard in the arena of ideas is what excites those of us involved with this effort the most. We have entered an era of political participation that did not exist just ten years ago. Today, every individual is truly empowered in the political process. If the pen can be mightier than the sword, then handing out pens is our vocation at Townhall.

As Townhall Magazine was born, we knew that it would be important to publish not only the professional pundits and intellectuals, but also the citizen “Paul Reveres” spreading the message throughout the grassroots—individuals passionate about the direction of our Nation, whom often have opinions just as insightful as the ones we hear on TV. Each month, in our “Blog On” section, we will include different commentaries from our community of bloggers. When relevant, we will weave comments and questions from our vibrant online community throughout the pages of Townhall Magazine. This interactivity is something we seek to grow even more in future issues.

Because there is always much more to a story beyond the feature article, “The Townhall On…” sections will highlight different viewpoints of a topic from across the Web and media world.

Blogs represent an individual’s ability to make their opinion heard but twenty years ago, conservative talk radio was the only outlet for people to call-in and have a voice. Conservative talk radio is still one of the most powerful outlets that conservatives have today but isn’t covered by the mainstream media in a way that it can and should be. Our “Radio Row” department will highlight the work of some of America’s best conservative talk radio hosts with stories, quotes, facts and humor.

We also know that politics isn’t just about policy but about the people that shape policy and participate in the political debate. We highlight the personalities of politics in “Road Trip,” “First Look” and “Five Questions.” Each month we will feature the “Townhall of Fame” to recognize two outstanding individuals making a difference in their communities.

So much of what we do each month will focus on the ideas of today and policy battles that will affect the future but we also believe it is important to highlight the principles that have helped define what conservatism means. Each month our online Editor-in-Chief, Jonathan Garthwaite—the man that has been the editorial direction of Townhall.com for much of its existence—will select and introduce a “Conservative Classic” writing from leaders of the conservative movement that have shaped the tenants of modern conservatism.

And Fred Thompson.  Each month, Former Senator Fred Thompson will offer the Closing Argument – an exclusive and definitive look at what matters to America.

What is often lost in the back-and-forth of the daily political dialogue are these principles that conservatives are fighting for and, ultimately, those principles are what we hope to elevate each month in Townhall Magazine. For us conservatism is about a smaller government, individual liberty, standing for common values that seem to have become all too uncommon, a strong national defense, and, most of all, an America whose “best days are yet to come.”
